Vega Baja Premier Golf League 2008/2009

This season the Vega Baja Premier Golf League has expanded from two to three divisions, with a reduction of teams in each of the divisions. There are now eight teams in each.

We welcome five new Societies which form part of the new ‘C’ Division, they are Ibero Alemanischer Golf Club, Deustche Costa Blanca Golf Club, Alamo Golf Society, Los Amigos Golf Society and Los Cabelleros Golf Society.

There were three teams that were relegated from last seasons ‘B’ Division; they are Eurogolf Golf Society, Happy Wanderers Golf Society, and Terra Mitica Golf Society.

As a result of these progressive changes the League will play the matches on the first, second and third Fridays, each month.

The Vega Baja Premier Golf League registered players will again form the nucleus for the selection of the European Team to compete against Spain, in the second annual Spain versus Europe Ryder Challenge*. Its inaugural competition was held in June this year at La Serena Golf & Beach Resort, currently Europe are the holders. Next years tournament will be held during the weekend of June 7th and 8th.

So there is a lot going on in the League this season and as always it will be very competitive with promotion and relegations issues, as well as the new incumbents flexing their golfing muscles to move into the higher divisions.
